(1) Ensure inspection of the nameplate prior to installation. Confirm the system rated voltage of the arrester matches the system voltage at the installation site;

(2) Choose between suspension or vertical installation methods. Remember, for vertical installation, the arrester must not serve as a load-bearing support insulator;

(3) Keep lead wires appropriately short to maintain optimal protection efficiency, and avoid overtightening to prevent undue stress on the arrester.

Test

  • • To build operational expertise, preventive tests are advised every 4-5 years. Focus on measuring U1mA at both ends of the DC 1mA arrester.
  • • Prior to installation, ensure the U1mA voltage is no less than 97% of the factory standard and document the readings.
  • • For preventive tests, the U1mA voltage should remain at a minimum of 26kV.
  • • Important: Minimize harmonic components in the testing DC power supply, as waveform irregularities can reduce the measured U1mA.
