Installation

(1) Prior to installation, verify the nameplate to ensure that the arrester's system rated voltage aligns with the system voltage at the installation site.

(2) Options for installation include suspension or vertical methods. It is crucial that vertical installations do not serve as load-bearing support insulators.

(3) Ensure lead wires are kept at an optimal length to preserve protection efficacy; avoid tension to prevent stress on the arrester.

Test

  • To enhance operational knowledge, preventive tests are advisable every 4-5 years, focusing on measuring U1mA at both ends of the DC 1mA arrester.
  • The initial U1mA voltage readings before installation must not fall below 97% of the factory specifications and should be systematically documented.
  • During preventive tests, ensure U1mA voltage does not drop below 26kV for optimal performance assurance.
  • Note: Minimize harmonic distortions in your DC power supply during testing. Poor waveform quality can lead to inaccurately low U1mA measurements.
